Raised in the choir, refined by grace
Osato Idehen Mary — known to the world as Nina Shezz — is a Nigerian gospel musician whose voice has carried her from a church choir loft in Lagos Island to stages across the country.
Lagos Island, Nigeria
Born to Mrs Idehen Fidelia and Mr Idehen Osawaru Godfrey, into a home of Christian faith where gospel music was part of everyday life.
Discovered in the choir
Her talent surfaced early. She joined her church choir as a child and sharpened her craft by singing other people's songs before finding her own voice.
Backing vocals for Frank Edwards
As a teenager, she stepped onto bigger stages, backing up celebrated gospel artist Frank Edwards.
